Sebastian grew up obese for most of his life. Having never exercised or taken care of his diet, he reached 250 lbs when he was 17. In October 2017, he decided to make a change in his life and lose weight. After a lot of self-education, trial and error, and hard days, he finally got down to 160 lbs by June 2018.
“It felt great to be a healthier version of myself, and I wanted to share that experience with the world. So, I began studying to be a certified personal trainer (CPT).
By 2019, I became a CPT and spent most of that year training friends, family, and clients at Blink. I genuinely enjoyed helping each person achieve their health goals, but I wanted to try something different.
In January 2020, I began wrestling at Fight Factory and trained there until October 2021.
By October 2021, I began training Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing under JMA BKNY and studying the CTA Curriculum.
Currently, I am the main instructor for our adult Jiu-Jitsu afternoon classes, the assistant coach for our junior Jiu-Jitsu evening classes, and the Program Director and Manager for JMA BKNY.
I graduated from Brooklyn College in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Those years at university have taught me many lessons, but the most important thing that I have learned is to be understanding of all people. There are many different philosophies, lifestyles, and cultures all throughout the world. And there is no way to prove which one is correct. Regardless, I believe everyone, deep down, wants to be appreciated. That is what I try my best to do for everyone that I meet, especially for all of my teammates and students at JMA BKNY.”
